When treatment options were exhausted, Krissy returned home to be with her family in her final days.
Krissy and her husband, Craig, had just welcomed their second child when they received a devastating diagnosis. Krissy had an advanced form of bowel cancer.

After years of exploring treatments, the family turned to Karuna for care at the end of Krissy's life. The support of our nursing and spiritual care teams provided their family with the opportunity to spend time together, at home, before Krissy's death.

You can read Krissy's full story below.

Thank you for supporting Karuna care

Krissy's care was made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our community donors. People just like you.

And now, your generosity during this holiday season can support even more patients and families facing the devastating impact of a terminal diagnosis.

Will you help us reach our goal of raising $100,000?

Your small act of kindness can go a long way.

You can support Karuna care, 24/7.

This amount ensures Karuna care is available whenever patients and families need us: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You will help to offset the cost of staff on weekends and public holidays, and provide essential after-hours technology such as pagers and staff safety duress alarms.

Match Maddy's act of kindness.

Craig and Krissy's daughter, Maddy, raised $1470 for Karuna's services last year. Now, we're challenging you to pay her kindness forward.

A gift of $1470 can cover the cost of three 2-hour sessions with a member of Karuna's Family Support team, helping families access grief, bereavement, or spiritual care.

Maddy's incredible act of generosity.

Craig and Krissy’s 12-year-old daughter, Madeline, learned to sew from her Nonna and Aunty. She soon came up with the idea to make cloth bags for her dad and his co-workers, who work at the airport and needed somewhere to store their headsets.

Maddy sold the bags for $25 each. And then she told her dad that she wanted to donate the proceeds to Karuna. All because we took care of her mum when she was sick.

In total, Maddy raised $1470 for Karuna.

We were deeply touched by her kindness and generosity. Madeline is not only honouring her mum’s memory, but also helping to make another family’s palliative care experience, a little less hard.

We hope her act of kindness can inspire you too.

Thank you for helping to make this season brighter for families living with a terminal diagnosis.
