Meet John, one of Karuna's first nurses
Honouring Karuna's history
More than 30 years ago, John Habrecht joined a small team to build a new palliative care service in Brisbane.
Their goal was to meet a need that had previously been unment in the community. A service that could provide compassion and dignity to terminally ill people and their families, in their own homes.
Together, they would become the first team of Karuna Hospice Services.

Much gratitude to the Karuna Foundation, with special mention to Tsultrim and Chodron who guided my father, Allan, and our family through his last days on his journey here on earth and forward to his onward journey. 5 years on, your love and support is appreciated enormously
